GenAI

ChatGPT and daily routine

Shoeblack.AI 2024. 11. 7. 23:59

Even after ChatGPT was released, I didn't really pay much attention to it, but I came across ChatGPT when I had the opportunity to teach how to use GenAI. I tested it a few times to prepare my lecture, and it performed so well that I started using it more and more. Now I'm actively using generative AI in most of my work, actively using it not just for my work but also to solve out problems I encounter in my daily life. I thought it would be a good idea to archive how I use it in my daily life.

Over time, the same input may produce different results as the models were updated, so I thought that it would be a good idea to keep a record of it for future study. This may be like a historical record to show evolution of GenAI. Also, GenAI provides an interesting opportunity to interact with my children. I tried to convert a picture drawn by my kid into nicer image using GenAI. It was fun, a great way to build memories, and generate new ideas from her drawings. I also thought that we may be able to make a storybook of our own. We can design our own character and story line, and put them together in a book with fancy design. It will be an amazing experience.

Here's a few example I used GenAI in my daily routine.

1. Raising a baby turtle

I picked up a baby turtle by accident on the road. It was a snowy day and I was afraid that it would freeze to death, but I didn't know how to raise it, so I found out how to raise it by asking to copilot on mobile app. It wasn't easy for me to find information about the turtle. I searched everything in Korean, and not much information was available. So I tried copilot to find information I need. First, I wanted to know what kind of turtle it was, so I took a picture of the turtle and asked what kind of turtle it was to copilot. I learned for the first time that there are aquatic turtles and land turtles. This helps me to prepare the place for him. When I brought the turtle, he didn't eat well, so I asked copilot what to feed and why the turtle didn't eat well, and I learned that turtles hibernate, so I put it in a pot and it burrowed into the soil and hibernated for about three months. So initially copilot helped me a lot to find relevant information to raise the turtle.

2. Handling problems in the home appliances.

I also use copilot to check the problem when a home appliance suddenly stops working. When I went to my mother-in-law's house and the air conditioner suddenly gave me an error code, I entered the error code with the name of the air conditioner and asked copilot what to do. Copilo finds the information I wanted immediately, so things are setteled very quickly.

3. In the meetings/lectures

I often have to attend meetings or seminars for work, and I often get lost in the terminology. If I don't understand a term, I can't follow the content. In this case, copilot is a good assistnat to help me out. First of all, the terms are not easy to write down. I have never heard of such thing. Thus, I can't really find the meaning of the term simply because I can't dictate it correctly. So my prompt is like this: I heard the word OOO, but I'm not sure I heard it correctly. I'm in the seminar about battery. Then copilot nicely suggests possible terms sound similar to what I typed. I often use it when I'm in a meeting with someone in a completely different field from mine. By understading what the other said, I can better communicate in the meeting!

4. When programming

When I'm programming, it's quite time-onsuming to read the documentation of other libraries. Thanks to GenAI, I don't really need to spend lesser time to understand the document. When I ask copilot to write a code using the library I want to use, it provides code immediately. Sometimes it's not perfect, but still it's much efficient to understand the library. It was mind-blowing experience when I wrote a code that may take weeks just one or two hours. World changing moment!

These are few examples how GenAI changed my life. I'll keep recording about this great change in my life!
