Machine learning became a part of my life thanks to Prof. Andrew Ng and Coursera. My major ess biology, and I studied little bit of programming. I wanted to learn bioinformatics and entered graduate school; however, I wasn't really able to make much progress mostly due to lack of understanding in programming and machine learning.
One day, I just opened the newspaper, and I found an article about Coursera. It changed my life. I first took machine learning course from prof. Andrew Ng. It was great course. I was able to understand how machine learning works. This insight helps me out to successfully finish my PhD program. Coursera is beautiful. I still learn a lot from Coursera. Particularly, it is amazing that many great courses in Coursera covered advanced topics in machine learning, and they are taught in a highly efficient way to understand the topic.
Even so.. AI is getting crazy, and it is changing super fast. Thus, I managed to understand fundamentals of machine learning; however, it is still hard for me to catch up the recent trend.
Thanks to Prof. Andrew, he lauched another education program: deeplearning.ai. This helps to understand recent trend and products from many start-ups in AI.
This platform is amazing. There are program called short course, which covers advanced topic with short videos. In total, it almost takes 1-2 hours to understand topic. Above all! the course provides video and jupyter python to run the code right away.
Recent update is LLMs as operating systems and CrewAI. I'll take them very soon. Soooo exciting! I was able to learn recent trend thanks to this platform. I'm just a researcher applying machine learing on my research topic, and this platform widens my understanding on recent progress in AI.
This is beautiful. I take lecture and at the same time I can try the code. This greatly improves my understanding the lecture, and I can also come up with how to apply this to my work. Sometimes the jupyter python code can't show every details. Thus, some of files were stored in the same directory. You can check all the details. Mostly there are helper.py file where all necessary functions and information are stored.
I was able to understand how RAG works through multiple RAG courses.
Recently, multimodal and agentic design courses are uploaded. This courses motivate me to automate most of boring tasks. I think understanding on python is the only entrybarrier to all the materials, and prof. Ng developed python courses for beginners. If you are not so confident, try out this course first and then other courses. This paradigm changes learning experiences greatly, and learning AI becomes much efficient and requires lesser efforts.
I believe in this progress programming language can be a second language to most of people. Maybe one day people use their own fine-tuned model to assist their daily life. It may sound like a story that you read in the science book for kids. This day may come sonner that you expect. Welcome everyone to the world of AI. Have fun!
