MUST USE AI services for startups and investors (TOP 5)

Shoeblack.AI 2024. 11. 26. 22:58

I attended a lecture on writing a business plan. It was shocking to hear that start-up members and investors spend so much time to prepare market research and data. It is essential task to demonstrate the superiority of their product, but they said that they were still doing it through googling. So much time for searching and googling... We are living in the era of AI, and manual searching is not really an up-to-date fashion. AI is our leverage. It should be used in our daily life.
Comparing Google search to AI search is a bit like comparing horse-carriage and automobile. There was a lot of opposition to the automobile when it was first invented and used instead of the carraige. It's dangerous. No infrastructure. The roads weren't ready. But in the end, the automobile won. Start-up members and investors keep saying that they are so busy, no time to do this and that. Well..? If you keep saying you're busy, and you search Google every day. What you are doing exactly contradicts what your word. If you're really busy, use AI. Here are 5 AI services that are much powerful than Google search.

1. Perplexity

I've never been in a startup, but I've read books about startups. (Netflix, DELL, Apple, Elon's companies... and so forth) A start-up has to do a million things. Investors are also packed with scheuldes for meeting with the companes. I don't really think investors can understand every details that the start-ups are tyring to explain to them. It's not easy for them to make some space to do a research and prepare presentations. They know it's important, but I think it's not feasible for most of them due to the heavy schedules. Perplexity is an AI-based search service. You can ask a simple question and it will organize everything in a blog level detail. It's also very efficient because it gives you all the references so that you can check and decide whether you trust it or not. You can even ask for the format. If you want it organized in a table, it will do that for you. Perplexity has a mobile app as well.

2. Genspark

I get to know this app through the AI community. I learned about it when Perflexity limited the number of searches and wondered if there was an alternative. It is an agent-based search service. You type in what you want to search for, and the agent conducts various searches through generating 3-4 different expressions similar to your query. It then aggregates all the search results and organizes the final results. GenSpark send me update mails from time to time and recently added an agent that visualizes a company's financial situation. I'm looking forward to this service because the performance is satisfactory and the added features are promising.

3. ChatPDF

This is a service that allows you to talk to PDF documents. Originally, it was a feature in the copilot on Edge, but... With the update of the copilot, the ability to talk to documents is not possible now. (Maybe it's because it's a free version...) Upload a pdf document to chatPDF and the chatbot is activated. If I ask it what I want to know in the pdf file, it will answer me based on the information in the pdf file. It is said that when startups compare technologies, they sometimes get data from research articles and prepare the report with them. As a member of a startup, it would be very challenging to spend time reading various papers on related topics. This feature would save a lot of time sifting through a lot of PDFs to find the key points. The free version has a limit on the file size for upload.

4. Google NotebookLM

Google NotebookLM literally lets you take notes on anything. You can upload relevant pdf documents, YouTube videos, and more, and the AI inside analyzes the information and summarizes it for you. So it's a system that allows you to interact with different types of materials you upload. While ChatPDF can only talk to PDF files, Google Notebooks LM can talk to any relevant information.
I had the opportunity to present AlphaFold this time, so I tried it out as follows. After uploading the YouTube video and the AlphaFold paper file from DeepMind, I asked various questions about AlphaFold. You can also ask questions about related content. The most interesting part is that it creates podcasts based on the contents. If you click on “Notebook Guide,” there's a play button, and it's a podcast based on the materials you've uploaded. Audio quality is very nice. Everything is surprisingly very natural. It's not awkward at all. You can also download the audio file generated by AI. I tried to upload it here, but it was too big... If you go into Notebook LM, there is also an audio file created as an example, so take a listen... If you had a lot of material to organize, then uploade all the relevant material to Google Notebooks and create a podcast. I know one person who does it and listens to them when he travels in the flight. He saves his time a lot for analyzing all different materials. Google NotebookLM is all you need if you don't have time to go through tons of materials!

5. Stanford STORM

I thought that language models are all the same... and I was surprised by this service. The report content is detailed  references to each sentence. The first screen looks similar to ChatGPT... , but what a surprise... It's fun to see how the model comes to conclustion and to the final results, and the results are amazing.

It's an agent-based system that organizes data and writes reports. In STORM, AI models brainstorm with each other before writing. You can also check what they brainstormed. I asked to make summary on AlphaFold, and the AIs had a tense meeting, and then provided the report.

You can also download the summarized article as a PDF. The details may be a little weak, but I think it's still quite helpful to have a report with this much quality. I wrote the topic too long, so the title came out a little awkward. In addition to the topic, you should also include the intention of the report so that the model can generate results aligned to your intention.

If you're really busy, stop googling. Personally, instead of using Google, I use a combination of Copilot, Perplexity, and Genspark. Especially when I'm looking for references, I use these services to find the data I need. It saves me a lot of time to use AI services as leverage. Googling is sin if you still stick to it.
